I've Been Busy

In the last month I have really been getting a lot of rug hooking finished. In fact I've been obsessed.

I hooked the runner from Theresa Rapstine. It matches the pillows I did a couple years ago. I hooked it in a size 10.

 This was a kit I bought in Denver at the ATHA Biennial. It is a Tricia Travis design.

 Then I finished up two pillows I started earlier. I always stuff my pillows and things with snippets. On the blue pillow I made a piping and I did a proddy edge on the heart. The bird is a Two Old Crows design. It was a crock pattern but I wanted it a pillow. The heart was in a Maggie Bonanomi book.

 This little guy, Too Many Cookies, is from  https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheBeeTheBear. I ordered the kit and I must say is is one of the best kits I've ever had. It was like Christmas just opening it!

Then I finished Kris Kringle, a Woolley Fox design. He is bound now. This was my first time hooking with Paisley Shawl. I cut it a size 10 and hooked it folded for a perfect size 8. Don't worry, the shawl was beyond repair. I'm hooking another santa right now and I'm using another shawl on his coat. I just love how it looks.

Finished My Big Rug!

When I was at the ATHA Biennial I bought this massive rug pattern from Theresa Rapstine. It is 36"x92" and I hooked it in torn strips. When we had the Hook-In in Shell, WY, Katie Hartner from Woolley Fox color planned it for me. I can't tell you how happy I am with how this rug turned out. It sure doesn't look like it's that big. Patty Tyrrell had to stand on a step stool to photograph it for me. I'm now on the binding and I expect it to take a few days to do.

 At the Hook-In in Shell, Katie Hartner was the Vendor and I bought this beautiful pumpkin kit from her. I was binding it on Saturday and it is now on my table. I am so happy with it.

New Rugs Finished

I finished two rugs after the Denver ATHA Biennial.

 The flowers is a design by Theresa Rapsting using torn strips. The paper is from the Shell Hook-In where Patty took the picture for me. I got the kit in Denver and it didn't take long to hook. I love it so much!

This is one I started before we went to Denver. It is a Red House Wool design. I am really happy with the way it turned out.

Denver Co ATHA Biennial

I haven't posted in so long I'm not sure where to start.

In August Patty, Debra, and I went to Denver Colorado for the ATHA Biennial. It was beyond words.
The first two days I sold my necklaces and bracelets.

This was my first time Vending so I wasn't sure what to expect but my jewelry sold really well.
The Spoons have words like Rug Hooker, Imagine, Create, and Wool stamped on them. I hand made each of the rug hooks and the hook earrings and flattened and stamped all the spoons.

 My bracelets are hand woven with silk and wool threads hand dyed by me and they are attached to copper blanks.

 

Caroline Rapstine and a customer were having as much fun as I was in the Boutique.

It was so fun to see women wearing my jewelry all over the Biennial!

The Vendors and Teachers were outstanding. This picture is of Debra, Patty, me, and Martha Lowery. Meeting Martha was one of the highlights of the Biennial for me.

There were so many more vendors! I bought from all three of these.

Rugs Done

 When I started this rug from The Old Tattered Flag I had a burgundy background and a different medium neutral. I realized about 1/3rd of the way through it that I wasn't going to have enough of the red. It had been so long since I dyed the wool that I couldn't remember how I dyed it so I pulled all the red out. After I chose a brown I realized the medium tone wouldn't work so I pulled it all out too. I just felt like it HAD to get done so pulling the colors out didn't bother me as much as an unfinished project did. I'm glad I reworked the rug and I'm glad it's finished.

The binding still needs done on this chicken rug. This is my second rug with this pattern and our Guild, Wild West Rug Hookers is going to raffle it off to make money for education. I'm really happy with how this one turned out. I hope it sells a lot of tickets.
I will have the tickets for sale soon on our Facebook Page, Wild West Rug Hookers. The drawing will be the end of September at our 3 day Hook-In in Shell, WY.

Roscoe the Rooster

Since I hooked Theresa Rapstine's rug Clover the red cow, I thought she needed a companion so I hooked Roscoe the rooster. He is from an antique rug design.

His colors are richer and darker but I wanted to show the background. I'm not good at enhancing photos. He has a crush on Clover the red cow.

After Roscoe, I decided to tackle Legonier Duo from Woolley Fox. Again color is horrible. there is a lot of tan and taupe in this neutral rug. I always thought I would do it in girly colors for my granddaughter but decided it was time for me to do a neutral rug. I am so happy with how this one turned out.

Hooked Rugs and a Hooked Bag

Since the new year I finished a couple of rugs, a bag, and I'm almost finished with another rug that is the first rug hooked on my new Cheticamp Frame.
Clover is so fun. She is a Theresa Rapstine pattern hooked with torn strips. Walking on this rug is heavenly! I'm almost finished with a Rooster named Rosco who is purple. He has quite the crush on Clover!

I also finished the Crazy Horse Bag by Susan Quicksall. It was finished by a leather company and I absolutely love it. I bought Susan's kit and I'm so glad I did. It came with drawings of the bag and marked which wools went where. The wools were also well marked. I think I"m going to use this bag as my purse.

I especially like how the leather company used a black leather on the gussets and the brown on top. The inside is lined with sturdy lining with pockets and a heavy duty double pull zipper at the top.

 The two cats, Miss and Match, is a pattern from Baa Ram Ewe. I bought the pattern at the Denver Hook-In. I needed something small to work on after finishing the Stonehouse Runner and this was just what I needed.

 

I mentioned the Cheticamp Frame earlier. My daughter and I, mainly my daughter, built it ourselves. There were no real directions so I drew out the blueprint on graph paper and we took off to build it. The hardest part was finding the wood. We live is small towns so the lumber yards didn't have many choices for different woods. Home Depot was our next stop and everything was right there! 

I'm going to figure out getting gears and my daughter can start building new ones to sell. The only place to buy the frames right now is in Canada so I think being able to purchase one in the States will be nice. 

Rosco is almost finished so I'll post him and the Cheticamp frame next time!
